Instructor, Inter-Asian Intimacies: Southeast Asian Marriage Migration to East Asia

This course introduces the phenomenon of inter-Asian migration and mixed marriages involving Southeast Asian women and East Asian men since the turn of the millennium. The course offers in-depth readings and fosters discussion on the complex dynamics of state intervention, the marriage brokerage industry, and women agency in inter-Asian marriage migration, as well as encouraging students to critically assess the positioning of women from the so-called global South in (marriage) migration scholarship.
